WAH/WAHM FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why sell on a mall?
Small independent sellers struggle to compete against large corporate sellers.  Selling on a mall gives you the best of both worlds - you benefit from the wider exposure and traffic from customers looking for a wide variety of products, without having to over-stretch your own brand line to provide the same range yourself.

Do I need to be a registered business?
No, hobby sellers are welcome so you do not need to register yourself as a business. What you do need to do is to make sure that your personal policy is posted before you start selling (so people know your policies on returns, lost parcels, faulty items, that sort of thing). We can help you with anything you need to get started. Remember though, that it is your own responsibility to declare your income as required.

Is it costly to sign up?
Not at all. We charge a setup fee of $25 (which includes a marketing kit for you comprising of a tote bag printed with your store logo, business cards, postcards, and return address labels to help you advertise your business), and after that there is a flat monthly fee (membership link for comparison tables). This covers everything, including your personal store setup and all items you wish to list. There is no listing fee or selling fee on this site.

What kinds of items can be sold here?
Just about any product or service can be sold on WAHMania, as long as it's quality and not mass produced/wholesale/bulk.

The reason we like to check each store before they start selling, is so we can ensure that the high quality standard is maintained. Before you contact us, read the following guidelines and check that your items are suited to our site.
Clothing: We accept babies, children and adult clothing, slogan tees, maternity wear and more. If they are handmade we will need to see detailed photos that include photos of garment finishing, seams, and action shots. If you have sold elsewhere and have reviews, we would love to see them too. All children’s clothing must have appropriate labelling
.

Jewellery: We require close up photographs which show the quality of the jewellery.
Baby items: Must be of high quality and meet Australian Standards where applicable.
Nappies: We require reliable reviews or a known reputation or a sample will be required. Your product must be unique. We understand that there is only so much you can do with a nappy, however direct copies of other nappies will not be sold here. We will require detailed photographs, including front, back, inside, and action shots, accompanied by a detailed description of the makeup of the nappy.
Art: You must be the artist or have the artist's permission to sell. Copyright infringement will not be tolerated
Toys: We give priority to handmade and wooden toys. Australian Standards must be met for all toys sold on this site.
Resellers/wholesalers: Reselling goods is allowed however we retain the right to be selective about the items that can be resold. ALL items must be high quality and whether mass produced or otherwise. We don’t accept ‘outlet’ style reselling of wholesale goods based on our own discretion.
Homewares/all other products:all products allowed provided they meet with quality and safety guidelines, don't infringe on copyright and are legal to sell in Australia and New Zealand. Please ask if you have any questions.

Other info
All stores are subject to a trial period of 2 months. During this time, we may ask your customers for feedback to check the quality of the items you sell and your customer service. A bad shopping experience at one store can reflect poorly on everyone, so we need to ensure everyone maintains a standard that their customers are happy with. When you are ready to open a store you need to read and accept WAHMania terms and conditions which will be forwarded to you before your store is set up.
